There is a quality to the light at dawn that you don't often find any other time of day, and it often matches the sense of belonging you feel when you're outside at that early hour. The surroundings are quiet but not desolate, at peace but not necessarily at rest, at a beginning point while at the same time continuous with the evening hours. I have tried to capture that quality and that belonging here in this original painting.

MY ARTIST STATEMENT— Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream.
