In this original painting, orange starburst flowers float above an abstract grouping of stems, with filigree elements spring from the bouquet. Layers of color and texture give this piece a sense of history.
In the bottom portion, carved into the table top that holds the flowers is a poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay, which reads:
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.
And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!
Size: 24" x 36" x 2.5"
Medium: Cold wax and oil on birch panel
Details: Intentionally unframed, the sides are finished with an off-white matte wash with weathered feel, and the panel is fitted with wire for hanging. Signed and dated.

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—Painting is a daily ritual for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. My goal is to create artwork that represents how I see the world around me—or how I hope it could be, a place where mercy, benevolence, and peace are commonplace and can be found around any corner, under any tree, or beside any stream. At the same time, I desire to create meaningful work that others forge a deep connection to and bring into their own home as a unique expression of who they are.
