Framed Collage with Crow, Mixed Media Art (8x8)

For this mixed-media collage, I have used images from vintage LIFE magazine issues (the 1940s). A crow cut from a whiskey ad sits amid scraps of vintage book pages and hand-painted papers. The phrase "Fine how-do-you" appears along the side, also cut from LIFE. Splashes of paint add to the whimsy of the piece.

Medium: mixed media on wood panel

Details: The piece is framed in natural wood with a front facing of .375”. The frame is 1.25” deep and fitted with wire. Signed and dated.

MY ARTIST STATEMENT—painting is a daily exercise for me, as I continue to discover ways to express myself through art. As an assemblage artist, exploring this medium opens up a different portal, so to speak. Different textures, colors, shapes, and even sounds, emerge with each new piece. My goal is to create work that represents how I see the world around me, and at the same time, work that others can bring into their own surroundings and attach to it their own interpretation.
